Additives
Special additives are used to specifically support individual processing steps or for post-treatment – for example during drying. They improve process stability, shorten processing times or specifically influence the surface finish. Environmental compatibility and economic factors can also be positively influenced by the use of suitable additives.
FLOCCULANTS
Flocculants are used in process water treatment to bind dirt particles, oil residues and other impurities. They promote the separation of solids and liquids and are often used in combination with recycling centrifuges. The right flocculant is selected based on the application – individually tested and matched in SPALECK’s in-house laboratory.
DRYING MEDIA
For stain-free drying and easy polishing, workpieces often undergo a drying process with maize meal after mass finishing. This natural granulate is produced by crushing, sieving and dedusting maize spindles (ginned maize cobs). It is available in various grain sizes. The choice of grain size depends on the geometry, size and sensitivity of the workpieces.
PASTES AND POWDERS
Abrasive pastes or powders are used to specifically increase the processing intensity in the mass finishing process. These contain mineral abrasives in different concentrations and support the targeted removal of material. Polishing pastes and powders are used for particularly fine or decorative surfaces. They contain polishing minerals that smooth the surface and achieve an even, high-gloss effect – ideal for precise finishing.
SEPARATION MEDIA
Release agents prevent flat or lightweight workpieces from sticking together during processing. They consist of small acrylic polymer balls or granules that are introduced into the process to ensure an even distance between the workpieces – an important factor for clean results, especially with delicate or flat parts.
DEFOAMERS AND BIOCIDES
Defoamers are used when there is increased foam formation in the mass finishing process – for example, if the water is too soft or the compounds are overdosed. They stabilize the process flow and prevent foam breakouts. Biocides are used for the hygienic maintenance of closed circulation systems. They inhibit bacterial growth, prevent the formation of odors and extend the service life of the process water – for consistently high processing quality.
